We have the same phenomenon that the adverb has a different meaning than the original adjective (hardly - hardly; clear - clearly).
Examples
C' est quelqu' un de
très
curieux
.
He is a curious person.
Curieusement
il ne me l' a pas dit.
Curiously enough, he did not tell me.
Cela m' est
égal
.
I do not care.
On peut dire
également
qu' il ne le sait pas, parce qu' il ne veut pas le savoir.
One could as well say that he does not know, because he does not want to know.
