  18.6 Dates and time in reported speech

If the clause to be reported mentions a time, then in the reported clause this time/date needs to be adjusted.

  Example
He said, "I will come today."
  He said that he would come this day.
  NOT: He said that he would come today. (this would mean that he said yesterday, "I come tomorrow."

  Examples
Il a dit: " Je viens aujourd' hui".
  Il a dit, qu' il venait ce jour-là.
  Il a dit:" J' arriverai demain".
  Il a dit, qu' il arriverait le jour suivant.
  Il m'a dit: "Je pars pour Londres demain mais je serai de retour dans huit jours."
  Il m'a dit, qu'il partait pour Londres le lendemain, mais qu'il serait de retour huit jours plus tard.
